DETgoth-L is an electronic mailing list for people living in or around Michigan, who have an interest in discussing all aspects of or relating to gothic, industrial and electronic musics and their subcultures.

List users are encouraged to maintain thought provoking conversation, and to continually work towards "meeting in the meat". DETgoth-L is not meant to serve as an alternative to the subculture scene in the area, but to stregnthen communication in it while augmenting existing ideas and activities as well as creating new ones.

DETgoth users are asked to abide by 6 simple rules:

          1. Please don't post completely frivolous messages such as one line messages, "me too!" messages, or quote the entirety of large messages when only a line or two is sufficient. This is standard netiquette.

          2. Messages posted to DETgoth should be treated as private correspondence; thus, not quoted anywhere else without the consent of all quoted parties. Under no circumstances should posts to DETgoth be carbon copied (cc'd) to any other address; especially other mailing lists, web archiving CGIs, or newsgroups.

          3. Please don't post messages about administrative and technical issues to the elist itself. Contacting the moderators directly is the speediest process to get an authoritative answer to your problem.

          4. No files of any kind should ever be transferred via these mailing lists. Be wary of sending encoded attachments, such as MIME attachments, as that is sometimes an email client's default. Likewise, keep messages to a reasonable length; please split them into multiple messages if they go over 30k.

5.Bouncing messages are a true bane of administration. Please avoid mailbox overloads on your site. If this seems of concern, consider switching to Digest format. 6. Promoters, club owners, bands are welcome to bring attention to their events and themselves on Detgoth. However, permission must be given prior to posting information. Contact the moderator concerning this.

These rules were originally written by Cliff Low for the necronomi.com mailing lists and were edited for use on DETgoth by Macross and Arthur. The Guide to netiquette document at http://www.fau.edu/netiquette/net/dis.html was also used in creating these rules.
